CHEMUNG — The Waverly Rec. / Hemp Geek AAU Sports program wrapped up its first 12U basketball camp Friday morning here at the Chemung Elementary School, and program director Reggie Hawkins believes it was “a tremendous success.”

“The weather was great, and the kids were great,” he said. “I think they learned a lot, and I know they worked hard all week.

“Overall, it was a success on all levels,” Hawkins added.

Hawkins also credited a quartet of Waverly High School basketball players — Ryan Lambert, Sidney Tomasso, Joey Tomasso, and Paige Robinson —  that pitched in as assistant coaches during the week.

“Those young folks did a great job,” said Hawkins. “The younger kids really looked up to them, and listened to them. It was very good to see.”
